How do I stop getting so many credit card offers?

I%26#039;m 20 and married and I get TONS of credit card offers in the mail weekly, usually about 10/week. My husband is 21 and he gets almost none--they almost all come in my name. Both of us had good credit before we got married, but he had a lot more than I did. Most of my offers come from Citi and Capital One. I tried calling the Opt Out number (1-888-567-8688) but apparently you need to have a home phone number for them to be able to confirm that you are who you say. We don%26#039;t have a home phone since we both have cell phones. Also, we have a crappy mailman who delivers our mail (including credit card offers) to other mailboxes (we live in an apartment where several mailboxes are grouped together) and I%26#039;m worried someone will try to take advantage of us.

Why do I get so many credit card offers, and more importantly, is there another way to opt out of getting them?

I too have been in your position

Try going to optoutprescreen.com this will take you off of the mailing list for credit card offers for at least 5 years (so make sure you don%26#039;t want any offer for at least that long)

This worked for me!

You could also try www.lifelock.com. I used to get a TON of credit cars offers in the mail and after a month of being with life lock I%26#039;ve stopped getting junk mail and credit card offers! Plus, they alert you if any credit is taken out in your name. I recommend them. It%26#039;s only $9.00 a month! Report It

|||Send it back in there envelope with Take me off your list written across it. This cost them money for the return postage and they will take you off them quickly. Good Luck

There is legislation to create a do not mail registry but it is not in place yet and it is on a state by state basis.|||Go to the Federal Trade Comission web site.http://www.ftc.gov/

There is a registry to get them to stop sending them.

You do have to tell them your Social Security number, but this is a government web site and perfectly safe.|||Call the 800 on one of the CC offers and ask them to remove you from the mailer and it should remove you from all of the cc mailers. It%26#039;s almost like junk email. Hope that helps.|||The reason they send you so many offers and that you can%26#039;t open up your front page of your Internet (yahoo mail) or tons of TV commercials about credit cards is that they are so dam greedy.

I get 7 -10 a week now no one person can have more than 6-10 cards max with out having too many 3-4 is recommended I have 3. They spend more money on credit card and automobile advertising than anything Else.

%26quot;I%26#039;m free to do what I want%26quot; god dam Stones are selling credit cards now everywhere I look, do you know what your credit score is? GREED!! is why...|||Respond back with a marketing research report on their mailing- point out that they made some grammer errors and didn%26#039;t do a good job of research. Include a bill for $200.00 to be paid within 30 days, note that further communications will be considered more marketing research for reading them at a rate of $300.00 an hour. Note that the states comsumer protection people will be notified if they don%26#039;t pay and a theft by deception police report will be filed for second unsolicited offer received. Send this as 3rd copy to them, 1st copy to file, 2nd copy to states attorney. This will keep you amused, and if you do have to go to states office and file you might get a state bad credit notice put against credit card company. Verizen has a bad business complaint on file in Wisconsin for the next 2.5 years because they didn%26#039;t straighten out their act and didn%26#039;t believe I would actually file complaint- state told them to fix billing and reminded them of length of time state would tell people they engaged in deceptive practice. Master card, AT%26amp;T leave me alone also- I tell them I charge $175.00/hour and give me billing address before continueing, fraud complaint will be filed for a deceptive practice and they can check court records on my winning suits. Works for me but I%26#039;m getting tolerant in my old age- Younger days actions resulted in some blood dripping out of people. Police have a chuckle but do file the reports, state keeps track of fraud and my complaints are job security for the state workers.|||those opt out dont always work

i would just shred them and dont worry about it|||Go to this website and opt out: http://www.optoutprescreen.com or call 1鈥?88-567-8688.

This will prevent a lot of offers that are unsolicited, but you%26#039;ll still receive offers from card issuers you currently have credit lines with.
