I get A LOT of credit card offers in the mail that I have no interest in. I%26#039;m not going to be getting a new credit card account any time soon. I want to stop these offers permanently and have found that I can do so on this website:
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t
I%26#039;m thinking about buying my first home (I currently rent). If I submit an opt out form, is this going to effect the process of buying a home? Will the bank be able to view my credit report without any problems when I apply for a home loan?
If I %26quot;opt out%26quot; of credit card offers, will this interfere with approval for a home loan?loan company
Absolutely no affect on any credit approval. Opting out will just get rid of all those solicitations for new credit cards -- or at least most of them.
If I %26quot;opt out%26quot; of credit card offers, will this interfere with approval for a home loan? loan
yes, you should have 1-3 credit cards, with established credit. its a good way to show that you reliable and trust worthy. even if you pay late its still looks good, because at least you paid it, and the credit company earned extra $ with late fees.
its all a game. just look at it from the credit companies, they want to earn money off of you, not just have you take their money and pay no interest...|||as this is a US website, are you are UK or US yahoo answers?
opting out is a direct mailing thing and therefore %26quot;before%26quot; the event as opposed to credit HISTORY report which is after the event. so its not going to affect it|||No, it will not. An %26quot;opt out%26quot; is not the same as a credit freeze.|||The credit bureaus are in the business of selling mailing lists made from their databases. Opting out means that they are not allowed to sell your name/address/phone as part of a screened list.
It has nothing to do with the actual extension of credit that you might initiate.|||I don%26#039;t agree that it won%26#039;t affect it at all... It won%26#039;t affect it in a bad way...I recently worked with a company to build my credit (which is how I got my house) and from what I was told, it is positive for your credit report because it lowers your risk for credit fraud, identity theft, and credit debt so therefore it is a positive thing when companies consider you for credit... When trying to buy a house, I was told to opt out to help me get approved...|||NO. It will not affect your chances for the home loan at all. In fact you will be doing a lot of good to protect yourself from ID theft by opting out of these offers. Good call.
